Contributing to a green city

Well, I believe that one should also contribute in his/her way at making the earth greener. Some of the ways you can do is:

1. Dont waste water. Plan for rain-water harvesting.
2. Make more use of the public transport.
3. Use solar energy. One of the problem with solar energy is the infrastructure is still costly. I think it should be heavily subsidized.
4. Use hybrid cars, which run on electricity. (When are they coming in India ?!!)
5. Keep thinking of new ways to make earth greener. :)

Investing Dilemas

I believe, everyone of you has already gone through the ' Become a Crorepati ' articles and are already inspired to become one. After reading through such articles, I feel investing and getting rich is all Dependant to the risk profile of a person. If u want to be tension free and are not the greedy type of person, aiming at earning a fixed income at the end of your investing tenure, then stick to the traditional investing instruments like PPF, FDs, Insurance etc. If you are the get rich quick kinda person, equities are for you. However the risk is also equally huge, since your portfolio value will fluctuate with the markets. My view would be be a balanced person. Invest 75% of your investments in the traditional investments and then decide to play with the remaining 25% in equities. Once you being to get a good feel of the returns and equity markets, you can think of diversifying your portfolio. Next Dilema? When do I start investing ?

Roti or Kapada or Makaan

Phew, the way land prices are rising in Mumbai, its really going to be a choice between the three. Property Prices are now reaching three times compared to what they were three years ago. And along with rising home rates, things only get worse for the middle class. Its boom time for the realty corporates, banks, developers, and a debt trap for the middle class. The million dollar question is should people still adopt a wait and watch policy for buying a property. I believe a lot of FDI has already been pumped in buying land at astronomical rates. Property Prices would nowhere come down to their original levels although there might only be a 10% correction. Looking for a affordable apartment in the city ? Dhond Te Reh Jaoge !!

ICL V/S BCCI

Slowly and slowly, BCCI seems to be winning key battles in the war against ICL. Now that it has decided to create its own professional cricket league, I think the first mover's advantage for ICL is now lost. However I am happy that just because of ICL, they have been forced to increase the salaries of all cricketers playing domestic cricket. Finally the profits from cricket through advertising etc are reaching the actual players. Lage Raho ICL !!!

Tips to remove corruption

1. Total separation of the politics and the police - All police activity must be solely managed by an independent state office, which does not belong to any political party. Police officials should at no point of time have to depend upon the ruling government officials for their promotions, transfers etc. Like the three armed forces, which are under the president, there should be a fourth force for home security, which should directly come under the president. It should be accountable, and must be liable to answer any questions raised in the parliament to maintain its transparency. Let the police be solely managed by the IPS.

2. Improve the living conditions of the police - Definitely give a huge increase in pay to the police. Charge all private individuals who are being provided protection by the police for just being stars and do not belong to any political party.

Will keep updating this section when I get any ideas....

LEAD India

Well, have been reading about the LEAD India competition all around. And am really perplexed, whether we really need competitions like these to find leaders ? By the time this competition is over, we would have already gone through another polls, selected a new government, and thus selected our new leaders. Anyways, mera bharat mahan !!!

Aag se Bhaag

Saw RGV's Aag. I am huge fan of RGV. And of course I am disappointed with the way the film is faring. My views on the film:
1. RGV should have just concentrated on capturing the spirit of Sholay, and not the story. He successfully did the same in Sarkar in capturing just the spirit of godfather.
2. RGV did copy scenes from sholay, but would change the end result of the scenes. But that would not help, since people are already starting to compare the current with the original, the moment the scene starts. This resulted in huge disappointments from the people.
3. Amitabh was really great, and sure to win the Best villian award this year.
